Careless talk about rape followed Stewart Baxter from India to South Africa, where he was unveiled as the new coach of Kaizer Chiefs.
In his previous stint at Chiefs Baxter was a success and his return after the sacking of Gavin Hunt was supposed to indicate glory days were back – instead, he had to fend off questions from reporters about the unsavoury remarks.
Baxter was fired by his Indian club Odisha FC, for saying: I dont know when were going to get a penalty.
“I think one of my players would have to rape someone or get raped himself if he was going to get a penalty.
You need decisions to go your way and they didnt Baxter said at the time of Odisha FCs 1-0 loss to Jamshedpur.
On Wednesday Baxter again apologised for his comments and said he in no way was making light of the crime of rape that bedevils South Africa.
The South African Football Association has cleared Baxter to take up his coaching job at Chiefs.
