The British and Irish Lions squad arrived in South Africa on Monday.
Although the players were smiling on arrival it was an anxious time for SA Rugby.
South Africa is in the throes of the third wave driven by the Covid-19 Delta variant that has seen infections rise exponentially.
Worse still, three Springbok players have tested positive for the virus and were withdrawn from the camp.
First-choice scrum half Herschel Jantjies, prop Vincent Koch and wing S’bu Nkosi tested positive for Covid-19 and were withdrawn from the bubble.
However, South Africa’s director of rugby Rassie Erasmus said he did not think it was a serious matter.
He said the development would not have any impact on two warm-up tests against Georgia or on the Lions tour.
The Lions will play three Test matches against the reigning World Champions South Africa on their epic tour in 2021.
They will also play five other matches.
