The Pretoria High Court on Tuesday ruled that no prying eyes will be allowed to peep into President Cyril Ramaphosa’s CR17 campaign fund records.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) had approached the court to unseal the records to see who donated towards Ramaphosa’s election as ANC president.
However, the court dismissed the EFF application with costs.
“The application by the applicant to have the directive by Ledwaba to DJP in the review application under case 55578/2019 made on 15 August 2019 to seal the FIC record, uplifted, is dismissed,” ruled Judge Elmarie van der Schyff.
The adverse judgment against the EFF comes just weeks after the Constitutional Court threw out Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s bid to appeal the invalidation of her CR17 report relating to the same matter.
