Friends and former workmates of Cudjoe Amankwa, are shocked at the sudden passing of the former television soccer analyst on SABC Sport and SuperSport.
Although details of the cause of his death were scanty, his wife has told colleagues that Amankwaa died on Friday.
She said when her husband wouldn’t wake up he was rushed from their Ferndale home in Johannesburg to the hospital.
Amankwaa was declared dead on arrival.
Many former colleagues have taken to Twitter to express their condolences.
Top SA sportscaster Robert Marawa tweeted: “Unforgettable radio moments we always had with u Malume!!
“‘Banjani ekhaya’ used to be your daily mantra given your impeccable manners & desire to know the welfare of others…
“Now we can only leave u in God’s welfare..sadly we say farewell & rest in peace Cudjoe Amankwaa.”
South African football legend Marks Maponyane tweeted: “Ladies and gentlemen sadly, Our friend, colleague and fellow FAA Cudjoe Amankwaa has suddenly passed away this evening.
TV football host Carol Tshabalala Tweeted: “Cudjoe my brother so shocking to hear of your passing.
“Twas an honour 2 work with u and get to know you 4 such a long time-since African soccer show days! Ur enthusiasm 4 the African game, kindness, positive spirit will forever be missed.
“Heartfelt condolences to the Amankwaa family.”
The Ghanaian sports journalist is survived by his wife and two children.
