Second choice Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene made four penalty saves to knock Kaizer Chiefs out of the MTN8 quarter-finals on Sunday.
The 36-year-old Zambian goalkeeper also scored a tricky penalty in the shootout against Itumeleng Khune in goal for Chiefs.
Sundowns join Swallows and Golden Arrows in the semi-finals.
Mamelodi Sundowns started the game on fire scoring two early goals.
In the 10th minute, Namibian prolific striker Peter Shalulile got in between two Chiefs defenders to head home for Sundowns..
Khune had a touch but it was not enough to stop the ball from crossing the line.
Thirteen minutes later, Chiefs were again caught napping and Themba Zwane found space at the edge of the area and easily beat Khune with a low shot to the far post.
Instead of dropping their heads Chiefs recovered their composure and clawed their way back.
Chiefs started putting passes together and Sundowns seemed content to retreat.
Njabulo Bloom took advantage and raced forward before he unleashed a pinpoint cross that was nodded in by Chiefs veteran Benard Parker.
They went to halftime with Sundowns leading 2 – 1.
Shortly after the game resumed Keagan Dolly was brought on for Kgaogelo Sekgota.
Dolly made a defense-splitting pass to Khama Billiat who beat 38-year-old Mweene in goal for Sundowns with a first time shot..
The game ended 2-2 and no goals were scored in extra time.
In the penalty shootout, Mamelodi won 2-1.
Only Dolly scored for Chiefs.
