Popular sportscaster Robert Marawa, who was previously hospitalised with Covid-19 pneumonia, has now taken his jab.
Earlier this year in June, Marawa revealed that he battled Covid-19 for three weeks. He said his health deteriorated to such an extent that he spent a week in the intensive care unit.
“I needed to wait about three months or so,” said Marawa after his jab at the Zwartkops drive-through vaccine site in Centurion on Friday.
“I am glad the first one is done and dusted.”
Marawa told football fans who are eager to watch games at stadiums that the jab was the first step.
As more people take the jab and new Covid-19 infections slow down, there is a good chance fans will be let into the stadiums as has happened in Europe.
More than 85 000 people in South Africa have died of the virus. However, scientific evidence shows that vaccinated people are less likely to suffer severe Covid-19 symptoms or die.
