A member of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) – Mpume Sangweni – is fighting for his life in hospital after he was shot in the head.
The ANCYL national youth task team on Wednesday said it was “shocked and saddened by the brutal shooting of ANCYL Ekurhuleni RCPC Coordinator, Comrade Mpume Sangweni”.
Mpume was on his way home when unknown gunmen attacked him. They shot him in the head and dumped his car.
The ANCYL said: “It would like to convey its deepest well wishes to Comrade Mpume and his family, we hope that he will recover speedily.
“Violent crimes are a cancer in our communities that continue to cause citizens to live in fear.
“The national youth task team calls for the swift apprehension of the brazen criminals responsible for this heinous crime.”
