ON FIRE: Armoured vehicle ambushed in cash heist
SHARE

Two security officers suffered gunshot wounds on Sunday morning when they were ambushed in a cash-in-transit heist in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics responded to emergency calls from Plane Road.

On arrival, the paramedics found a burning cash transit vehicle laying on its side.

“Two security officers were found to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were treated and stabilised by advanced life support paramedics before being taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” said Emer-G-Med.

“Reports from the scene allege the vehicle was ambushed by a number of heavily armed suspects, a shootout ensued resulting in the injuries.

“The suspects then allegedly bombed the armoured vehicle.”

It was unclear if the armed robbers made off with any money.

Police were in attendance, however, there were no reports of any arrests.
