SHARE

Seven people lost their lives and 20 others were injured when the delivery van they were travelling in crashed along the R573 between Kwaggafontein and Moteti on Saturday morning.

The deceased are all males. Their names have not yet been established and made public.

The injured, who include the driver, were taken to hospitals in kwaMhlanga and Philadelphia.

Details of the cause of the crash that happened around 5 am remain sketchy, but initial reports suggest that the driver lost control of the van, which veered off the road before it crashed.

Mpumalanga Community, Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe said he was “deeply saddened” by the horror crash.

Shongwe has sent condolences to the families of the deceased.

The MEC warned drivers to be cautious on the roads and be alert at all times.
