The Department of Health on Monday announced more changes to the Covid-19 jabs schedule so that people can get their second booster dose for the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine.
In a statement released in the afternoon, the Department of Health said it, “would like to announce further amendments with regards to the vaccination schedule as part of ongoing efforts to enable people to vaccinate and boost their immunity against Covid-19 infection”.
The department added: “Thus, all people who have received the Covid-19 J&J vaccine as their primary dose together with the booster dose of their choice, are eligible to receive an additional or second booster dose of either J&J or Pfizer vaccine with effect from today (Monday 14th March 2022)”.
Some challenges with the recording of the doses on the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS) have been experienced, however, the department said it anticipated the issues would be resolved during the week.
“Individuals can receive the second booster dose at least 90 days or 3 three months after their first booster dose,” said the department.
“The department will keep the public informed of any amendments related to vaccination schedules, as and when scientifically based changes are made.
“Covid-19 vaccines remain the most effective weapon against the pandemic and provide protection against Covid-19 infection.
“Thus, all eligible people are urged to vaccinate to protect themselves against the current and future variants.”
