A person has been shot dead along Chris Ntuli Road in the Berea area of Durban.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics were alerted to the shooting Thursday afternoon and responded at about 15h50.

“On arrival, a male, believed to be approximately 30 years of age, was found to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and he was declared dead on the scene,” said Emer-G-Med.

“Reports from the scene allege the man attempted to rob and stab a victim who retaliated, firing a shot in defense of their life.”

Police were on the scene, but it was unclear if the shooter had been arrested.
