Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored the only goal at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night to secure a 1-0 win for Manchester City over visiting Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie.

Six-times European champions Liverpool beat Portugal’s Benfica 3-1.

Ibrahima Konate, Sadio Mane, and Luis Diaz scored away from home for Liverpool.

Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez was on target for Benfica.

The return legs are scheduled for next week in Spain and England respectively.
