Red-hot Stricker Karim Benzema scored Sunday night to complete a stunning 3-2 come-from-behind win over Sevilla in La Liga to all but secure the title for Real Madrid.
A lackluster first half saw Sevilla pin back Real Madrid and score two goals from Ivan Rakitic’s rocket free-kick and Erik Lamela’s close-range shot.
Whatever it was 62-year-old Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti told his players during the break to do overwhelmed Sevilla in the second stanza.
The passes were sharper, more accurate and the swagger was back much to the delight of the travelling Madridista.
Real Madrid wiped away a first-half two-goal deficit with a rejuvenated performance sparked by super-sub Rodrygo, whose goal knocked the stuffing out of Sevilla.
Another inspired substitution by Ancelotti to bring on Nacho did the trick. Nacho scored with his first touch.
It was all left to Benzema to put the icing on the cake with a sublime finish in added time that required two touches in the penalty area.
The 34-year-old Frenchman has scored 25 La Liga goals this season to put Real Madrid firmly in pole position 15 points clear of second placed Barcelona with just a handful of games left. Sevilla are third.
