Eskom ramped up load-shedding to stage 4 on Friday morning from 11 am.

“To conserve emergency generation reserves, load-shedding will be implemented to Stage 4 from 11:00 am until midnight tonight,” the power utility said.

Eskom also pointed to strike action at some its entities as exacerbating the instability of its generation capacity.

“Due to the ongoing unprotected labour action, Eskom is compelled to take precautionary actions to conserve emergency generation reserves,” explained the power utility.

“On Saturday and Sunday Stage 4 load-shedding will be implemented from 5 am until midnight.”

Eskom urged consumers to use electricity sparingly.
