The African National Congress (ANC) Deputy Secretary General, Jessie Duarte has lost her battle against cancer.
The ANC said Duarte died in the early hours of Sunday.
“It is with profound sadness that the African National Congress has learned of the the passing of our Deputy Secretary General Comrade Yasmin ‘Jessie’ Duarte, during the early hours of Sunday, 17 July 2022,” the ANC said in a statement.
Duarte’s family revealed that she battled cancer for eight months before she succumbed to the illness.
“She will be sorely missed,” the family said.
She was 68.
Duarte will be laid to rest Sunday afternoon.
