The African National Congress (ANC) has won the by-election in Ward 13 in Umdoni Local Municipality.
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday said it “has once again shown strength following a landslide victory”.
Ward 13 in Umdoni was previously under the Democratic Alliance (DA). The by-elections followed the resignation of the DA ward councillor who had won during the 2021 local government elections.
“In yesterday’s by-election, the ANC emerged victorious, which is a clear indication that the community has confidence in the glorious movement which has produced leaders such as Tolomane Mnyayiza,” said the ANC.
The party added that it, “wishes to congratulate the regional ANC leadership, leadership of Umdoni Sub-Region and all volunteers of the ANC for working tirelessly during the bi-election campaign period.”
The ANC said it undertakes to strengthen service delivery to demonstrate appreciation to ordinary members of society who once again voted for the ANC.
