DEADLY SPLASH: The driver remained trapped underwater after his car smashed through a wall and landed upside down in a swimming pool in Amanzimtoti in Durban

A car has smashed through a wall and landed upside down in a swimming pool in Amanzimtoti, Durban, where the trapped driver has been removed and declared dead.

“Paramedics are in attendance of a collision in Amanzimtoti where a vehicle has gone through a boundary fence and landed into a residential swimming pool,” said Emer-G-Med on Friday, mid-morning.

“The driver is entrapped in the vehicle under the water. Advanced Life Support paramedics From Emer-G-Med are in attendance.

“There are no signs of life displayed.

“We are awaiting the assistance of the South African Police Services (SAPS) Search and Rescue Unit in order to access the patient.”

The man was eventually removed from the car by the SAPS Search and Rescue and was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

Police are investigating the cause of the car crash.
