Pretoria – A motorist was shot in the leg while fleeing from hijackers in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim’s car was left riddled with bullet holes.
Narrating events soon after the shooting, Emer-G-Med said: “Just after 01h45 this morning Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident in the Hatfield area of Pretoria.
“On arrival on scene, a high-end luxury motor vehicle was found parked in a service station peppered with bullet holes.
“Closer inspection found a man seated in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound to the leg.”
Emer-G-Med said the wounded man was treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
“Further information revealed the man to have come under fire from an unknown number of armed suspects in an attempted hijacking incident in the region of the Diamond Hill toll plaza, where he managed to evade the suspects and drive to the fuel station to seek assistance,” Emer-G-Med said.
“The South African Police Service [members] were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly.”
