Midrand – Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi on Friday announced his new Provincial Executive Council (PEC), which he said will focus on accelerating economic recovery, health, and wellness, as well as fighting crime.
The PEC includes:
1.Finance: MEC Jacob Mamabolo
2. Economic Development, MEC Tasneem Motara
3.Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and E-Government and Research and Development: MEC Mzi Khumalo
4.Transport: and Logistics: MEC Kedibone Diale Tlabela
5.Health and Wellness: MEC Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko
6.Sports, Recreation, Arts & Culture: MEC Morakane Mosupyoe
7.Social Development, Agriculture and Rural development: MEC Mbali Hlophe
8.Community Safety: MEC Faith Mazibuko
9. Education: MEC Matome Chiloane
10.Human Settlement & Infrastructure Development: MEC Lebogang Maile
11. Further the ANC Gauteng Spokesperson and Head of DIP who also serves as the whip of programming and Spokesperson of the ANC Gauteng Caucus comrade Lesego Makhubela has been appointed as the Chief whip of the ANC in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng said it welcomes the changes effected into the PEC (Exco) by Premier Lesufi.
The ANC said it further congratulates the appointed members of the Provincial Executive Council and wishes them well in their work.
“The newly elected Executive Council is a product of consultations and engagements with all our structures and represents the best amongst ANC members of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature,” said the ANC.
“The immediate task of the Premier and his team is to urgently implement the manifesto of the ANC and attend to the immediate challenges that confront our people on the daily basis.
“The ANC PEC will expect that the premier and his team of capable cadres to strengthen the implementation of GGT2030 vision.
“The new Executive Council represents continuity and the infusion of new ideas and young people.”
The ANC said as a leader of society it was committed to upholding the highest levels of ethical, open and honest leadership “guided by our belief that as this collective we have the capacity and humility to honestly review our work critically and correct our weaknesses”.
