Johannesburg – The Clinical Manager at Helen Joseph Hospital has been suspended over alleged wrongdoing.
The Gauteng Department of Health on Wednesday said, “it would like to inform the public that the Clinical Manager at Helen Joseph Hospital has been placed on precautionary suspension following allegations of misconduct levelled against the employee”.
The department added: “Owing to the seriousness of the allegations against the clinical manager the suspension is with immediate effect as of Tuesday, 15 November 2022 pending an investigation”.
A terse communique from the department did not name the clinical manager, whom it said was now not allowed to be at work during this period so that their presence at work does not affect the investigations.
“Given that this is an employer and employee matter the department prefers not to discuss the details of the allegations levelled against the said employee in the public domain so as to allow for a fair process,” the communique said without revealing the nature of the alleged misconduct.
Meanwhile, doctors at the hospital complain they are having to buy supplies, mop floors, and use scrubs and medical bins to collect water dripping into the hospital.
