Johannesburg – Eskom has further reduced load-shedding to Stage 4 from early Saturday morning.
The power utility, which implemented Stage 5 on Friday down from Stage 6, said it implemented Stage 4 from 05:00 on Saturday.
“Load-shedding will then be reduced to Stage 2 at 05:00 on Sunday until 05:00 on Monday morning,” said Eskom in a Power Alert.
The reduced load-shedding comes amid mounting criticism of those in charge of the struggling power utility.
On Friday, the South African Federation of Trade Unions again called for “the immediate resignation of the Eskom CEO, Andre de Ruyter”.
A few hours later on Saturday, Eskom tweeted that Stage 5 was back.
