Johannesburg – Two small children – an 18-month-old baby and a three-year-old toddler – were airlifted to hospital after they were saved from a near-drowning in Randburg Tuesday afternoon.
Recounting the near tragedy, Emer-G-Med said: “At approximately 15h20, Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to residential premises in the Randburg area for reports of a drowning.
“On arrival on scene two little boys aged 18 months and three years old, were found in a critical condition after being submerged in the family swimming pool.”

Emer-G-Med said several advanced life support intervention methods were needed to stabilise the brothers before a decision was made to activate the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter teams.
“A nearby landing zone was established and Netcare 2 and Netcare 3 landed on the scene within minutes,” Emer-G-Med said.
“Both boys were airlifted through to a specialist facility for the definitive care that they required.
