Durban – An e-hailing driver has been shot dead in an attempted hijacking on Swan Road in the Avoca area north of the city.

By late afternoon, SA Police Service officers were still on the scene of Tuesday’s shooting, which occurred at about 15H00. The Renault was still on the scene.

Emer-G-Med said paramedics attended to a 44-year-old male found lying in the back seat of a crashed Renault light motor vehicle.

“Closer inspection found the man to have sustained a fatal gunshot wound and he was declared dead on arrival of paramedics,” said Emer-G-Med.

“Reports from the scene suggest that the man was an e-hailing driver and came under fire in an attempted hijacking by unknown suspects before crashing his vehicle.”
