Durban – A 50-year-old motorist has been shot dead in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Dumisani Makhaye Drive and Queen Nandi Drive, where a bystander caught in the crossfire suffered serious injuries.
Emergency responders found the dead man in a sitting position inside a stationary Toyota Hilux at
Emer-G-Med said when paramedics arrived on the scene just after 12H00 on Friday, they found a man seated in a Toyota Hilux. He had multiple gunshot wounds.
Emer-G-Med said the man “was declared dead on arrival of paramedics”.
“A second man aged approximately 30-years-old, who was caught in the crossfire, was found to have sustained serious injuries and was treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.”
Emer-G-Med added: “Reports from the scene are that the vehicle stopped at the intersection when an unknown number of armed suspects approached and sprayed the vehicle with high-calibre bullets”.
The South African Police Services was in attendance. However, no arrests have been reported and the dead man has not been named.
