Pretoria – Third-year Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) student Ntokozo Xaba has died in a suspected Gender-Based Violence incident, the institution said Friday.

In a terse statement TUT said the college was “shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of a third-year female student on 2 February 2023”.

Xaba, who resided at Ekhaya Junction, was studying toward a National Diploma in Integrated Communication.

“She met her untimely death in what appears to be an incident of Gender-Based Violence,” the TUT communique said.

“The University is waiting for an official report from the South African Police Services (SAPS).

“We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the student’s family, friends, and fellow students”.

The University said it was providing the family of the deceased with “as much support as we can at this difficult time”.

The police have since questioned Xaba’s ex-boyfriend, rugby player Ngcebo Thusi, who was said to have been with her the night before she was found dead with stab wounds.
