Johannesburg – At least three people – one of them a biker – died along the N1 in separate crashes at the weekend.
Narrating the tragic events, Emer-G-Med said just before 22:00, on Saturday, paramedics responded to reports of a serious collision along the N1 south, after the Stormvoël toll plaza for
“Upon arrival, multiple patients were found on the scene,” said Emer-G-Med.
“It is alleged that a vehicle broke down in the middle lane of the N1 when a good samaritan stopped to assist the broken down vehicle.
“An SUV, unfortunately, drove into the broken down vehicle as well as the people standing next to the vehicle whilst they were busy with repairs.”
Two middle-aged men, one from the broken down vehicle and the other from the vehicle that stopped to assist, sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival of paramedics.
In another incident in Centurion, Emer-G-Med said about 40 minutes later, paramedics responded to another scene of a collision involving a motorcycle and a truck on the N1 north near John Vorster.
“On arrival on scene it was established that a motorcycle had collided at high speed and high impact into the rear of a truck,” said Emer-G-Med
“The motorcyclist, a male approximately 30 years of age, was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”
