Johannesburg – Two haulage trucks collided along the N14 Diepsloot.on Tuesday morning resulting in the death of one of the drivers.

Netcare 911 said the collision occurred at 07:08.

Shawn Herbst Netcare 911 Spokesperson said one of the trucks transporting scrap metal had broken down when a second truck transporting chicken waste slammed into the rear of the first truck.

“When medics arrived on scene they found that the driver of the rear truck showed no signs of life and was sadly declared deceased on the scene by Gauteng EMS,” said Herbst.

“A heavy-rig tow truck was used to separate the two trucks, allowing the Johannesburg Fire and Rescue services to use hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver trapped in the mangled remains.”

The driver of the first truck was not injured.

The SA Police Service is investigating the matter.
