Pretoria – Large parts of Pretoria East are still without electricity after a huge pylon collapsed onto the N4 on Sunday.
At least three haulage trucks were involved in a collision as a result of the pylon obstructing the road. Live electricity wires were on the ground, but no casualties have been reported.

The City of Tshwane on Monday said it was “aware of the collapse of the 132kv power lines that fell on the N4 freeway last night which resulted in a power outage affecting large parts of Pretoria East”.
The City added: “This incident has led to the closure of the N4 freeway east between Solomon Mahlangu and Simon Vermooten off-ramps.
“Motorists are advised to avoid those roads and use alternative routes.
“The initial assessment by the Energy & Electricity team has found that at least six powerline structures have collapsed and are badly damaged.”
The City said a team reconvened on-site Monday morning to conduct further investigations.
