Polokwane – Elite crime busters – the Hawks – are asking the public to help catch a shrink who is from another country after he skipped bail in an illegal mining matter.
The 48-year-old wanted suspect, Ernest Brandon – a psychiatrist described by the police as a “foreign national” – was arrested in January 2021 along with five other suspects in connection with illegal mining at Phashaskraal Village, outside Burgersfort.
The suspects appeared in court and were released on bail.
However, on the next court date, Brandon was a no-show.
Police said as a result, a warrant of arrest was issued against Brandon.
Now the Polokwane-based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit is looking for the psychiatrist whom they want to re-arrest.
The Hawks are pleading with anyone who knows Brandon’s whereabouts to contact the investigating officer, Colonel de Lange on 071 481 2527.
