Johannesburg – Hassan Ebrahim Kajee has been removed from the roll of advocates by the High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division, Johannesburg.
The judgment on Thursday came after the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) referred Kajee to the Johannesburg Society of Advocates for inflating invoices, invoicing for services not rendered, and overcharging for alleged services rendered to the Office of the State Attorney.

The High Court found that “In our view, the respondent’s [Hassan Ebrahim Kajee] dishonest conduct that forms the basis of the application effectively stands uncontested and has, therefore, been established on a preponderance of probability.
“The nature and extent of the respondent’s misconduct can lead to no other conclusion than that the respondent is not a fit and proper person to continue as an advocate.”
The high court also ordered Kajee to pay for the legal costs that the Johannesburg Society of Advocates incurred for this application.
The SIU said it “welcomes the ruling to strike off Kajee from the roll of advocates by the high court”.
