Pop star Madonna is on the mend after several days in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she was treated for a “serious bacterial infection”.
The 64-year-old entertainer fell ill ahead of her 84-date “Celebrations” tour scheduled to start next month.
Madonna was reportedly found unresponsive in her hotel room and rushed to a hospital in New York City, where she was placed in ICU. She was intubated for at least one night.
“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU,” her manager Guy Oseary said Wednesday.
“Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.”
As a result of her illness, Madonna, who is still recovering in hospital, has postponed her world tour.
“At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour,” said Oseary.
“We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.”
Fans are sending best wishes to the “material girl” whose full name is Madonna Louise Ciccone.
