Orkney – The trial of 34-year-old African National Congress MP Sibusiso Kula who is accused of the murder of his wife, Jennifer Mohlomi, has been postponed by the Orkney Magistrate’s Court to later this year in September.
Mohlomi was found dead in her Kanana marital home last year on 27 November 2022.
Initially, Kula told the police he arrived home to find his wife had been viciously attacked in a house robbery gone horribly wrong.

The 31-year-old mother of three had been stabbed several times with a sharp object that police said was never recovered.
Kula even took his stabbed wife to a medical facility, where she was pronounced dead. It was the medical facility that alerted the police to the fatal stabbing.
After an initial probe, the police zeroed in on Kula as the murder suspect.
The MP was eventually arrested on 20 January – nearly two months after Mohlomi was murdered.
For months Kula fought an unsuccessful legal battle to get bail in the Orkney Magistrates’ Court.
The MP was eventually granted bail of R50 000 on 4 April 2023 by the High Court of South Africa, North West Division.
Once he was released on bail Kula attempted to have his murder trial thrown out of court.
However, Kula’s bid to have the case struck off the roll was rejected by the court on 22 May 2023.
Kula is expected back in court on 6 September 2023 when the matter sits.
North West National Prosecution Authority Spokesperson Henry Mamothame said an application submitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in North West, Dr. Rachel Makhari, for the matter to be transferred to a higher court, was awaiting the finalisation of investigations.
