London – The French international footballer Benjamin Mendy has successfully defended himself against accusations of rape.
The former Manchester City Defender was found not guilty of assaulting the women on separate occasions at his Cheshire mansion.
The accusations cost Mendy his place in the league title-winning team, which finally let him go when his contract ended in June.
He was suspended early last year when he was arrested and brought before the court.
The Frenchman was accused of attacking five women between October 2020 and August 2021.
The 28-year-old soccer star was earlier this year cleared of sexual offences against several women, however, the jury could not reach verdicts on the two charges.
Mendy, who has finally been cleared of all accusations, has always maintained his innocence.
On Friday, the free agent was finally set free when a jury at Chester Crown Court found him not guilty.
Mendy insisted the encounters with his accusers were consensual.
