Mbombela (Nelspruit) – The Public Servants Association (PSA) on Thursday said it was “extremely concerned” about the growing number of hijackings involving government vehicles in Mpumalanga.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health has reported a significant rise in hijackings, which endangers the safety and well-being of employees.

There have recently been hijackings at Phola Nsikazi Community Health Centre, Carolina Hospital, Nkangala, Emalahleni, and Waterval Boven, where employees were attacked.

Additionally, government property was vandalised at Carolina Hospital, and employees were harmed.

The PSA urged the Mpumalanga Department of Health to urgently address this alarming trend by enhancing security measures and installing recovery tracking devices in all departmental vehicles to reduce the risk of hijackings.
