Johannesburg – Professor Thuli Madonsela has been appointed to the United Nations (UN) Scientific Advisory Board.
Commenting on her new appointment on Saturday, Professor Madonsela said: “Thank you dear colleagues for your kind messages regarding my appointment to the UN Scientific Advisory Board”.
She added: “This adds to evidence showing that a new inclusive world, where Africa is an equal partner, is emerging. Supremely grateful to you and to UN Sec-Gen Antonio Gutteres.”
The primary objective of the UN Scientific Advisory Board is to provide independent insights on trends at the intersection of science, technology, ethics, governance, and sustainable development.
The board comprises seven eminent scholars alongside the chief scientists of United Nations System entities, the secretary-generarl’s envoy on technology, and the Rector of the United Nations University.
