Johannesburg – The WACS undersea cable is broken and Mweb on Friday said connectivity speeds across South Africa for all ISPs had been affected.
“The WACS undersea cable has experienced a break, due to a rock fall in the Congo Canyon, which has been impacting connectivity speeds across South Africa for all ISPs,” explained Mweb.
“This will impact Mweb customers’ speeds, especially during the 5 – 10 pm busy time, with gaming and video streaming being the most affected.
“Mweb and our infrastructure partners are working hard to deploy additional network capacity on other networks, while repairs are conducted on the WACS cable.
“Please check your in-app notifications or via Mweb’s Social media pages for updates.”
