Durban – A man was shot dead Thursday in an attempted truck hijacking in Cato Manor Township, eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal.
ALS Paramedics said they received numerous distress calls informing them about a hijacking and shooting at about 16:00.
“Paramedics arrived on the scene of an open field to find the SA Police Service (SAPS) on scene and were shown to the rear of the truck where the patient was,” said ALS Paramedics.
“Paramedics assessed the man believed to be in his thirties who had sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body.
“Unfortunately, he had sustained fatal injuries, and there was nothing Paramedics could do for him, and he was declared deceased.
“It is alleged that the vehicle was hijacked in Durban CBD and driven to Cato Manor.”
The identity of the deceased man was yet to be made public.
No arrests have been reported, however, the SAPS is investigating.
