Durban – At least 15 commuters were injured Thursday morning in a multiple-vehicle collision at the corner of Moore Road and Williams Road in Durban.
ALS Paramedics said they received numerous distress calls regarding the collision in which a fully loaded truck lost control and crashed into a bus and minibus taxis.
“On arrival, paramedics found chaos as patients lay all over the road. Immediately more ambulances and Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist,” ALS Paramedics said.
At least 15 people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
A passenger from the rear of the bus was found severely entrapped in the wreckage.
Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the injured man, while the Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to try and free him.
“All of the injured were stabilised on scene by Paramedics before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required,” said ALS Paramedics.
At this stage, the events leading to the collision remain unknown.
However, the SA Police Service officers were on the scene.
