Middleburg – A horror collision between a minibus taxi travelling from Johannesburg to Mozambique and an articulated truck on Friday night left seven people dead and nine others injured – six of them seriously.
The deadly collision occurred on the N4 in Middleburg, Mpumalanga.

Reports from the scene of the crash said the minibus taxi driver was among the deceased.
The truck driver survived unscathed.
Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison Department Spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
He, however, said preliminary investigations suggest that the minibus taxi – towing a trailer – lost control resulting in the collision.
“The taxi was reportedly pulling a trailer, and it was travelling from Johannesburg to Mozambique,” Mmusi said.
“It is alleged that the crash happened when the taxi seemingly lost control and overturned. “The truck driver was not harmed.”
Mmusi said all the injured people were rushed to hospitals in Middleburg for medical attention.
