Standerton – A head-on collision Saturday morning between a minibus taxi and a car along the R23, near Standerton in Mpumalanga, left four people dead.
The deceased included three adults and a child, who were travelling in a car.
The minibus taxi driver, who was driving alone, suffered serious injuries.
Mpumalanga spokesperson for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison Moeti Mmusi said: “The cause of the crash is still under investigation. However, dangerous overtaking cannot be ruled out”.

In another deadly road incident in Mpumalanga, three people died in a head-on collision in Vosman where a sport utility vehicle (SUV) collided head-on with a sedan along the N4 on Saturday.
Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison Spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said all three were declared dead on the scene of the crash.
“The deceased include both drivers and one passenger. The SUV had two occupants, a male and a female,” Mmusi said.
Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe has again appealed to motorists to be cautious on the roads and to adhere to the rules
