Pretoria – The driver of a Ford Raptor that crashed into a stationary vehicle along the N1 south near the Rigel Avenue off-ramp had to be cut free using the “jaws of life”.
Emer-G-Med said the collision occurred on Saturday afternoon.
“On arrival on scene a luxury SUV was found to have collided at high speed into the rear of a stationary articulated vehicle before overturning and coming to a rest on its roof,” said Emer-G-Med.
“The driver, a male aged in his thirties, was found severely entrapped in the wreckage with serious injuries.
“Emergency Care Practitioners worked fervently to stabilise him whilst he was cut free using the Jaws of life.”
Emer-G-Med said once the driver was freed he was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the definitive care that he required.
