Johannesburg – Former soccer player, Thandani Ntshumayelo, appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly hitting his girlfriend against a wall following a fight with a friend at his home.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the former Orlando Pirates and Swallows FC midfielder was arrested on Friday, on a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
“The complaint is in a relationship with the accused and alleges that she was with him and his friends at his place when a fight between the accused and one of his friends ensued.Â
“She then tried to intervene in an attempt to calm down the accused. Ntshumayelo then allegedly became aggressive towards her, by slapping her across the face, grabbed her by her head, and hit it against the wall.
She further alleges that he then pushed her to the ground,” said NPA spokesperson in the Gauteng division, Phindi Mjonondwane.
Ntshumayelo, known as Bibo in the soccer circle, was released on R1 000 bail.Â
The case against him was postponed to April 4 for further investigations.
