Pretoria – The Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant (WTP) pump that was taken down for repairs has been restored.
The City of Tshwane on Tuesday said it was “pleased to announce that the 2nd pump at the WTP which was taken for repairs at the weekend has returned and started running from the early hours of this morning”.
The City said the system was manipulated to push more water to the Ekandustria Reservoir that supplies Ekangala and other surrounding high-lying areas.
“The reservoir is filling up and the low-lying areas will gradually begin to receive water when the reservoir level increases, supply will be restored to the high-lying areas,” said the City.
“Residents in the high-lying areas of Rethabiseng, Ekandustria, and Ekangala experienced water supply challenges at the weekend after a pump broke at the Bronkhorstspruit WTP and was taken for repairs.”
Water tankers were dispatched to the affected areas to ensure the continuous supply of water.
The City said it, “wishes to apologise once more to the affected residents for the inconvenience endured and expresses gratitude for their patience”.
