Cape Town – Beneficiaries of the Learn-How-To-Sew Program have graduated after undergoing training in sewing, smock, and quilt-making, empowering them with valuable skills for sustainable livelihoods.
Over the past six months, 24 enthusiastic participants engaged in a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping them with essential sewing proficiency program, computer literacy, business and financial management skills.
Through ACSA’s generous support, beneficiaries received funded training in sewing, smock, and quilt-making, empowering them with valuable skills for sustainable livelihoods.
The program commenced with Life Skills Training, facilitated by Etafeni Day Care Centre, which helped participants identify and establish personal goals, desires, and expectations.
This foundational training was essential in fostering resilience and positive decision-making among participants.
Following the Life Skills Training, participants delved into the Sewing Skills Training accredited by QCTO SETA, an NQF Level 1 course spanning 72 days.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants gained practical knowledge and hands-on experience in garment construction, preparing them for employment opportunities in the textile industry.
Additionally, participants underwent a Fit for Work program, which included computer literacy, financial literacy, and business development sessions.
The graduation marked a significant milestone in Airports Company South Africa’s (ACSA) commitment to community upliftment and empowerment.
ACSA in collaboration with Etafeni Day Care Centre, held the graduation ceremony for beneficiaries of the Learn-How-To-Sew Program.
The event took place on 6 March 2024 at the Etafeni Day Care Centre in Nyanga, Cape Town.
ACSA’s beneficiaries are mainly from Freedom Farm, Malawi Camp, and Blikkiesdorp informal settlement communities.
