Durban – AmaZulu midfielder, Ben Motshwari, has warned rivals Orlando Pirates of a tough encounter when they meet in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash.
Usuthu faces the Buccaneers at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Motshwari, who is in his maiden season at Usuthu, spoke to The Bulrushes about his team’s preparations ahead of the Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash.
“It’s gonna be a different ball game this time, obviously it’s a Cup game,” said Motshwari.
“It’s not like we’re gonna go there and settle for a point, we will win or lose.
“The guys are motivated, so we don’t need any motivation,” said the former Wits midfielder.
However, Pirates boasts arguably one of the most talented squads in the Premier Soccer League.
One of their stars is already being touted for the coveted Player of The Season award.
But the Usuthu midfielder insists his teammates are capable of matching Pirates on the day.
“Knowing them, I don’t think their style of play has changed much,” said Motshwari.
“Certain individuals who came into the team have added a bit of flair, but we also have our own players who can make a difference in this game.”
Pirates will be coming to this encounter high in confidence off the back of a 7-1 thrashing of Golden Arrows last Saturday.
Motshwari, a former Pirates player, said his new club Usuthu will not be applying the same approach as Arrows did.
“It also goes with your approach you know and we are not Golden Arrows,” Motshwari said.
“I think they had a different game plan you know, approaching that match.
“I don’t know what they were doing hence they were hammered 7 but for us its gonna be a different ballgame,”
A rather interesting statistic going into this highly anticipated encounter is that Pirates have never lost to AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Motshwari believes all that could change on Saturday when local boys Usuthu meet the Ghost from Soweto in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash.
