Johannesburg – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party has expelled five “rogue members” including founder Jabulani Khumalo, who registered the new kid on the block.
In a terse statement late Friday, the MK party said the National Leadership Core had expelled the following comrades:
- Jabulani Khumalo, (whom President Zuma requested that he register the party on his behalf)
- Cde Ray Khumalo
- Cde Bheki Manzini
- Cde Lebo Moepeng
- Cde Rochelle Davidson, (also known as Gogo Mahlalaentabeni)
“We want to categorically state that the National Leadership Core will always act and make decisions in the interest of all patriotic South Africans that want to see change,” said the statement attributed to party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela.
The spokesperson told The Bulrushes that the party’s intelligence found out that these “rogue members” were “bought” by the governing ANC and other opposition parties to “destabilise the MK party”.
The statement further said: “We urge all MK members to be disciplined and trust the leadership as we work towards gaining support for a campaign that will emancipate the downtrodden people in our country”.
The move to get rid of “rogue” members comes soon after former president Jacob Zuma threatened to expel “corrupt” MK party members.
In a related development, 82-year-old Zuma, made his first public appearance to dispel reports of ill health.
The new political party registered last year in September recently removed its youth league leader.
