Mbombela (formerly Nelspruit) – A 41-year-old Mandla Mnisi, who fatally stabbed his wife and hurt their children, has been remanded in custody by the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga
The accused appeared in court on Monday, (29 April 2024), on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Allegations are that, a week ago, Mnisi stabbed his 36-year-old wife to death and hurt their two children at their home in Mataffin, near Mbombela.
The accused disappeared after the violent attack.
However, on Saturday Mnisi handed himself over to the police.
Commenting on the tragedy, Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said: “It is said that the woman’s children were also stabbed allegedly by the suspect.
“Nonetheless, the children fortunately survived the ordeal.
“A case of murder was opened with two counts of attempted murder.”
The accused, Mnisi, will be back in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday next week, (8 May 2024).
