Inanda – Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, in her capacity as a member of the African National Congress’s National Executive Committee (ANC NEC), has hit the campaign trail with a message urging voters to vote for the governing party.
This week the Mpumalanga premier was part of the ANC NEC members deployed to woo votes for the ANC in Inanda, KwaMashu, and surrounding areas in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the polls later this month, on 29 May 2024.
KwaZulu-Natal is regarded as a highly contested province by various political parties, especially the ANC, Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) as well as the new kid in the block – uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party, led by former president Jacob Zuma.
Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane said that during the door-to-door campaign, first-time voters promised to vote for the ANC.
“We are continuing with the work of the ANC door-door campaign in Inanda,” the Mpumalanga premier said.
“On 29th May, we urge communities to vote for the ANC in all the three ballots with the face of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“First-time voters are sure about their vote. They say theY will vote for the ANC in all the three ballots.”
Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane said she was confident that the ANC would emerge victoriously because of its remarkable track record in changing the lives of South Africans in the three decades.
“In 30 years since our first step to freedom, we have made incredible strides to providing basic needs and building safer communities to universal healthcare.
“We are shaping a better South Africa,” Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane said.
Earlier Thursday morning, ANC NEC members, other representatives, and stakeholders held a “peace election prayer session” and “candlelight ceremony” at Claremont Sports Hall.
