Johannesburg – Marumo Gallants Football Club announced Thursday that it has bought Moroka Swallows F.C.
Swallows, fondly known as the “Dube Birds” have been experiencing money problems in recent times.
Swallows chairman David Mogashoa recently made it publicly known that the club was up for sale because of financial difficulties that made it difficult to pay player’s wages.
In a terse statement Thursday Marumo Gallants Football Club officially said it had acquired Moraka Swallows Football Club.
However, the club did not disclose how much it paid to acquire the Dube Birds.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has approved the sale of the legendary Soweto club.
Gallants said the club will take over Swallows with immediate effect.
“The club also confirms that home games for the upcoming season will be played in Bloemfontein, Free State,” Gallants said.
“Gallants will provide more details of plans once staff, technical teams, and players have been addressed.”
