Trichardt – Three people were burnt beyond recognition when a minibus taxi and a light delivery vehicle collided head-on along the N17 between Trichardt and Bethal in Mpumalanga on Saturday.
Two of the deceased were occupants in the minibus taxi and the third dead person was travelling in the bakkie.
Details of the deceased were still withheld as their next of kin were being traced.
At this stage, the exact cause of the fatal crash is unclear but remains a subject of further probe.
Commenting on the horror collision, Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety Security and Liaison Jackie Macie said: “Drivers must play their part by obeying the rules and being vigilant every time they sit behind the steering wheels.
“Many crashes are avoidable. All that is needed is due diligence on all road users.”
